Grimeton laser

This may be of some interest. I wonder how far away it can be seen?

English translation below

Worldheritagegrimeton Light in the autumn darkness... What is it? Catch our green laser - and #tag your photos! Maybe you've never seen it? Maybe you have seen something and wondered? From the antenna tower of the world heritage site, the #artwork #Transmission glimpses from time to time. Green laser that sends secret (or loving) messages at Morse code intervals. The light that can be seen from several miles away conveys messages based on @UNESCO's work for peace and the equal value of people. Peace. Friendship. Freedom. Equality. Life. Love .... It was set up in 2020 by the light artist Aleksandra Stratimirovic and is a permanent work owned by the municipality of Varberg.  If you capture it on picture with your camera, don't forget to post your experience on social media, tagged with #transmissiongrimeton and @worldheritagegrimeton and we'll see your message! Who collects the most "transmission" spits during the fall. In a few days we will send the first one, and then three every month. If you still miss them all, you always have the chance at midnight on New Year's Eve! Grimeton VLF CW transmission - June 30th

Southgate News reports on an upcoming 17.2kHz CW transmission from the Grimeton TX in Sweden using the callsign SAQ. On my wall I have a QSL card from them for a transmission many years ago. This very old VLF transmitter uses an alternator to generate the signal. It is now a world heritage site.

Extra SAQ 17.2kHz VLF CW transmission on Oct 24th?

Message from SAQ (sic). There appears to be some confusion over the time. If I get clarification I'll let you know later.   The transmissions are CW from the World Heritage transmitter that dates from about 90 years ago. It is run up on special occasions only.
There will hopefully be a transmission with the Alexanderson alternator on 17.2 kHz on “United Nations Day” October 24, 2014 at 10:00 UTC. Start up and tuning from about 11:30 UTC.

There will be a message written by students in Denmark.

We are not hundred percent sure we have access to the antenna this day because of other organization using it.

SAQ (17.2kHz VLF) transmission June 30th 2013

It is always fun to listen on 17.2kHz for the special test transmissions from the historic Grimeton alternator transmitter in Sweden.  Lars Kalland writes:

"We will remind you of the Grimeton Radio/SAQ transmissions on 17.2 kHz, CW, with the Alexanderson alternator on Sunday, June 30, 2013, “Alexanderson Day", at 09:00 UTC and 11:00 UTC.  We will start tuning up some 30 minutes before message. "

They welcome reception reports for these SAQ transmissions either via info@alexander.n.se , via the Swedish QSL bureau or direct to:

     Alexander-Grimeton Veteranradios Vaenner,
     Radiostationen
     Grimeton 72
     SE-432 98 GRIMETON,
     SWEDEN

(NB: new address)

The QSL card from SAQ is something quite special. I was lucky enough to receive one a few years ago.  Also see their website at www.alexander.n.se .

A suitable downloadable software receiver (needs a wire connected to the audio input of a PC sound card - add back-to-back diodes to prevent damage) is available at https://sites.google.com/site/sm6lkm/saqrx/
