Many of the villages around here have some very attractive thatched cottages like this one.

This photo was taken 7 years ago. It is almost certainly somewhere in East Anglia, although I cannot recall where. If you recognise it, please put me out of my misery!

Especially in nearby Norfolk and Suffolk, there are some very attractive villages. This is an example. This is about 15 minutes drive away.

This cottage is in our village. We have a real mix of old and new houses.

This thatched cottage is having a new roof. Quite expensive. It is in the nearby village of Wicken.

Every Friday I travel into Cambridge on the bus for my University of the Third Age lecture. This cottage is seen on the way. The photo was taken from the moving bus through the window.

There are some very pretty villages in this part of England.

Old cottage - NOT amateur radio

A few years ago this very old cottage in our village was tastefully extended. It is very hard to tell the extension from the original.  We are blessed with quite a few old houses in Burwell, our village.

Here I am trying to take a photo on my phone! I have no idea when this cottage dates from, but I'd guess the early 1800s. Some old houses date from the 1200s - that is old!

This is a house in our village. We nearly bought the house next door many years ago. Instead we stayed put in the same house for 38 years!

Burwell Cottage - NOT amateur radio

Although our village (Burwell, Cambs, UK) has grown a lot in recent years, it still has some lovely cottages like this one.  Some parts of our church are around 1000 years old and the oldest house dates from around 1200AD. I suspect this cottage dates from the 1700s, so is quite new!
