Southgate News has piece about using drones that stay up for 9 days to act as 5G base stations. I guess this could be less expensive than 5G microwave base stations every few hundred metres. It could also offer 5G in rural areas, which otherwise could lose out.

OFCOM consulting on 5G frequencies
Apparently OFCOM is consulting on the use of some spectrum for 5G services. See the OFCOM website for more details.
As you know, far more base stations are likely for 5G. It would not surprise me to see base stations on several lampposts in every street. I wonder what will happen with 5G in rural areas?

OFCOM and 5G spectrum
Today OFCOM announced that it was freeing up spectrum for 5G at 700MHz and around 3.6GHz.
It still insists on using the term "airwaves", suggesting to me that this quango is being run by a bunch of school kids who actually know very little about RF and spectrum. Perhaps I am being a grumpy old man. For this I apologise.

5G spectrum
Our high microwave allocations are under threat as possible spectrum is allocated for 5G. According to Southgate News the FCC is to auction 24GHz and 47GHz spectrum. The RSGB has made complaints already about UK 5G allocations.
If 5G is to use 47GHz, they will need masts on every street!! At least microwave parts should be cheap.

OFCOM, 26GHz and 5G
OFCOM is consulting about allocating 26GHz spectrum to 5G. They will need a lot of masts! Clearly written by "experts".

Is 5G a myth? - NOT amateur radio
Is 5G all a myth? A new book seems to suggest this. This was on the Elector site today.
