Lavenham - NOT amateur radio

Lavenham is a wool village in East Anglia. It got very rich centuries ago on the back of the wool trade. It probably has one of the best collections of timber framed buildings in England.

Lavenham, UK - NOT amateur radio

Lavenham is a village in Suffolk, UK. It was the 14th richest place in England in the late Middle Ages as a result of the wool trade. It has lots of timber framed properties.

Our younger son had his wedding reception at the Swan Hotel, shown in the photo taken earlier today. Many years earlier I went on a course here for 1 week   ....and came home 7lbs heavier!! Mind you, I was not paying and the food was good!

Lavenham - NOT amateur radio

Lavenham is a village about an hour from here. It is filled with timber framed houses and a grand church.

It got rich when the wool trade was at its height many centuries ago.

Lunch out - NOT amateur radio

Two years ago we went to the old wool town (village?) of Lavenham. We ate out at a small cafe. Do you remember those days when we could travel?? 😊  The photo shows our lunch.

Funny how a trip to the local bakers is now exciting! I expect when this pandemic is largely over we will value the small things denied us all.

Lavenham - NOT amateur radio

Today we had lunch out at a small café in Lavenham, Suffolk, UK. This is an old wool town that made its money when the wool trade was at its height centuries ago. There are many fine buildings in this village.

My son had his wedding reception at the Swan hotel here, where I came for course 40 years ago. After a week here I ended up half a stone heavier! The Swan is on the right in the second photo, just beyond the road works. It is a fine Tudor building.
