Packhorse bridge - NOT amateur radio
This bridge was once on the main route from Cambridge to Bury-St-Edmunds. It is in a village called Moulton, near Newmarket. Right next to it is a ford.

OS maps - NOT amateur radio
In the UK, the definitive maps for over 200 years are produced by the Ordnance Survey.
We have a local nature reserve near here. I have the latest paper 2.5 inches to the mile OS map and it makes no mention of this: it is as if this is a top secret place! No wonder so many locals have not a clue it is there.
On the OS map app it is only there if you zoom in.

Packhorse Bridge - NOT amateur radio
On Monday, I mentioned in an earlier posting that we went out to nearby Moulton for a meal with my brother. Moulton is a small village not far from Newmarket. It has a famous, very old, packhorse bridge as it was once the main route from Cambridge to Bury St Edmunds. Packhorses went over the bridge and horses and carriages went across the ford. The bridge dates from the 13th or 14th century and is a mix of brick and stone.

Packhorse Inn - NOT amateur radio
We ate lunch with our son (pity the other one wasn't there too) at the Packhorse Inn
in Moulton near Newmarket. The food was very good and it was very busy,
which is always a good sign. This is our third visit. This medieval
packhorse bridge is just a few metres away.
