Where I come from - NOT amateur radio
The photo shows where I come from in South Devon. As mentioned before we can trace our family history here continuously back to the mid 1500s. We were probably in this area 1000s of years ago.

Bolt Tail - NOT amateur radio
Another photo of where I came from in South Devon. Quite splendid.
I have already said in earlier posts that we know for certain we were hereabouts in 1427, so there is every chance my distant ancestors fished and farmed here millennia ago and the iron age fort in the far distance on Bolt Tail was partly manned by my ancestors.
And we are just a speck in history. Quite humbling.

Promontory Fort - NOT amateur radio
At Bolt Tail, near Hope Cove, on the South Devon coast is a very old promontory fort. It is quite possible that one of my ancestors manned it many thousands of years ago, as this is where we came from at least as far back as the 1400s.
There is something quite humbling about this. Our lives seem quite long, but they are just a speck really. And this fort was built very recently considering life on Earth.
Dust to dust and all that.

Bolt Tail - NOT amateur radio
Our holiday continues.
This is the view looking west from Bolt Tail in South Devon, UK. On the RHS is Burgh Island. We dodged showers! Real April weather in mid May. Bolt Tail was once a promontory fort thousands of years ago. It would be wonderful to have seen the view back then - few settlements, the coast would have been further out, etc..
See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Promontory_fort .
The walk from Bolt Tail to Bolt Head along this coast is spectacular. We parked on Bolberry Down.
