Last ones? - NOT amateur radio

We like to eat fruit with our breakfasts . This includes blackberries if they are in season. We have a bush very close to us and I thought I had picked my last of this year a few weeks ago.

To my surprise I collected some today which will do for breakfast today and tomorrow. It has been very mild of late.

If you do not believe we are living in a warming world, open your eyes. We have lived in this part of the UK for over 50 years and it is definitely milder. Some may argue about causes, but it is definitely warmer.

Last ones? - NOT amateur radio

We try to have a small bowl of fruit each morning with breakfast. For several weeks this has included wild blackberries picked from a bush about 25m away.

I think the last ones have been picked for this year, but will see if there are any more, but I am not hopeful.

Last Ones? - NOT amateur radio

This lunchtime I picked, washed and ate the last few blackberries on the bush near our home.

Hopefully I shall eat more next year.

UPDATE October 29th: Still picked some today! See later post.

Blackberry picking - NOT amateur radio

For breakfast this morning I picked some fresh, wild blackberries. They are on some bushes about 20m away. With other fruit they were delicious. I guess there are enough for several days.

Later we hope to go to the next village. With luck these blackberries should be ripe ..... assuming nobody else has picked them all!

UPDATE 1403z: We went blackberry picking at Reach just before lunch. There were thousands. Plenty for another day.

Wild blackberries - NOT amateur radio

The ones in the photo were right next to our garden. Washed, they will be great with breakfast and in a crumble.

Blackberry picking - NOT amateur radio

After lunch, we hope to go on a local walk with our grandson and collect some wild blackberries for breakfast and a crumble. They are early this year. I hope there are still some left!

UPDATE 1545z: Came back with plenty.

Wild blackberries - NOT amateur radio

Yesterday we went to our local museum across the road with some of our grandchildren. On the way, they ate quite a few blackberries as the photo shows!

Last ones? - NOT amateur radio

Most blackberries have now shrivelled up. The photo shows one today seen on our walk earlier.

The one I had was bitter.

Picking blackberries - NOT amateur radio

We have all four grandchildren with us at the moment. Next door's blackberries didn't stand a chance!

Anyone for blackberries? - NOT amateur radio

Our neighbours are on holiday so they said, "help yourselves to the blackberries". I have lost count of the number we have picked, but it is a lot. Our "London" grandchildren ate a lot too.

The picture show those picked today. There are lots still there.

Simple pleasures - NOT amateur radio

Well, some blackberries made it to the crumble, but quite a few got eaten! Simple pleasures to be for ever treasured long after the grandchildren have grown and flown. I hope they do this with their children and grandchildren.

Blackberries - NOT amateur radio

No, not the personal organisers, I'm talking about fruit.

There is a wild blackberry bush just outside our garden. When they come to stay these next few days, our "London" grandchildren will really enjoy picking the ripe ones and eating them. These are wild fruits and they taste delicious.

"Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness" - well almost!
