More and more people are being encouraged onto broadcasting via DAB or internet radio.
In time the MW and LW broadcast bands will be emptied. I expect in the end there will be a single IC that does everything needed to receive DAB from station selection, program ID and audio amplification requiring only a case, display and antenna.
It would not surprise me if in the future smart TVs would allow you to create an evening of viewing. For example the latest news, followed by a film, followed by a serial. Maybe a quick look at the weather followed by another film, all obtained from subscription services like Netflix, ITVx, BBC iPlayer.
This could be the end of linear TV.
