I think it was a crystal set. I am not sure it was sold in the UK. Was this in the 1950s or 1960s?

I had a very similar crystal set about 1959-1962. You turned a round ball in the rockets nose which screwed a ferrite? slug inside a coil inside the rocket to tune stations. As I remember it wasn't a very good performer.
I obtained another crystal radio built in the form of a miniature transister radio but in a much smaller format in 1962 which was much more sensitive.
That pleasure is to be denied todays children because the am station I listened to then will move to FM in March. Progress!
Yes! Not this one but I had a series of little crystal sets like this when I was young. Tuned by pushing a ferrite in and out of a coil. Worked well as I recall. I think they were from Japan.
