It looks like the Chinese manufacturer Xiegu is going to launch a new product called the X6100.
Apparently their quality control on earlier products was not good. At the moment this still puts me off Chinese made amateur radio products. If I was spending good money I would expect it to be reliable.
They'll get there, but still not there yet.

Not over convinced by Xiegu products, very little info available, no circuits supplied with their equipment, and reliability and build quality can be am issue .
Also I have found they won't communicate with you unless you are a dealer? :-(
Saying all that the G1M is not a bad 5 band QRP HF radio, that can be had for less than £200 if you look around at various market places.. Again it can suffer from a few build quality issues, like dry joints around the mic skt.. "Yes I have one"..

I’ve had a Xiegu X5105 for several years and, although it has a number of idiosyncrasies, I find it quite a good radio. As a portable rig its internal ATU will match the proverbial “piece of wet string” and so that’s one less item to carry into the field. Also the internal battery seems to last forever and enables the radio to run a full 5 watts.
I also have an FT-817nd and comparing the two I would say the 817 is a little more intuitive to use. However, the internal battery limits you to 2.5 watts unless you use a LiPo upgrade and you would need an additional ATU unless you use resonant antennas. The 817 is probably the better choice for a base-station radio than the Xiegu if you were thinking of going that way.
