472kHz (630m) WSPR RX overnight

Yesterday evening and overnight I was on 472kHz WSPR RX with the earth-electrode "antenna" in the ground. 9 stations were spotted with the furthermost being EA4GHB (1300km).

Hello Roger,

Nice log of your WSPR reception overnight.

I am now using, since yesterday a new ZackTech WSPR transmitter. Fed directly into my antenna, running QRPP at it's 100 millwatts output I am very pleased to be copied down to Spain and up to Norway and Sweden and in between. I have taken a picture of the WSPR map and I will try to attach.
I bought an Icom 705 last year and I am really delighted with it. I have not used it on transmit and unlikely to do so. I just use it on receive. Being 72 years old I felt it was well worth the money. The range of modes and bands and the superb form factor is joy. I just wonder can I attach that image
No, I dont see a way to attach a picture. Let me know if you want it

Hello Roger, Seems like the image size is too large to send via this method, which is a pity. Anyway, the tiny 100 mw signal on 474.2 khz WSPR got down as far as Italy and way up to Sweden and many stations in between. The unit is made in Sweden ZachTech is the maker, initially I bought the one for HF, but wanted one for 136 khz and 474 khz bands, which came two days ago. Not sure if you got my comments on the Icom 705, but in effect it is a terrific little unit, takes very little to run on receive only, which is all I have done so far. I did wonder if I could justify the price, then after much self and Xyl discussion and considering my next birthday I will be 73.....well what the heck. SO glad I did. It just does everything wonderfully and is a joy to have. The filtering is superb, which I use extensively for listening to NDB beacons. What more can I say. Thank you, as always for your terrific Blog. Regards Finbar
