As I write, my son's brother-in-law is clinging to life after suffering horrific injuries in Australia whilst a pedestrian crossing a road on green. A car struck him with the driver going through a red light whilst fiddling with her phone. He is dying.
It is hard to believe in a just God at these times. The sisters and parents are living in limbo and clearly are in a living hell. In history, the past is littered with cruelty such as the mass extermination of Jews in Europe not that long ago.
Can someone please explain to me how God is good? All the evidence is life is random and at times deeply cruel.

God IS good; but He also gave men free will. He is not some kind of Master Puppeteer, directing our every movement and outcome. As a result, bad things happen and they are our doing, not His. Even in our darkest times, He is there supporting us, even if we can't sense it. Prayers for you and your family, that this young man will get through this terrible ordeal. de W2LJ
Larry - I wish I could believe that. At one time I had a strong faith, but right now, if there is a God, I find it amazing that he can be SO cruel. These folks are in a living hell. No, this young man's life is ending. A second and his future would have been so different. Justice? None at all. Larry - thank you.
Roger, so sorry to hear that the family is in such deep trouble. Larry has already said it beautifully, God is not orchestrating every single move that we do. Man has chosen to let sin (and cellphones) into this world and evil uses that to inflict pain on humanity. Not God has inflicted this pain on your son in law but the reckless driver. Gods greatest gift to us on the other hand is that he, by his son, has given us a way to stand before him with a clean slate, regardless of where we come from. That is, if we believe of course.
Would you mind giving us his first name, we would like to pray for him too.
With kind regards, Jan DK3LJ
Thank you Jan. His first name is Chris. He is dying and his family and friends are distraught.
Roger, how is Chris doing? Is his family with him?
Kind regards, Jan DK3LJ
Jan - thank you for your love and caring. Chris is dying. It is a tragedy for those who love and care for him. Yes, his family has been at his bedside almost all of the time.
