Devon lunch 2016 - NOT amateur radio
This was our lunch in 2016. Ivor Dewdney made the best pasties. I think they survived the pandemic. I can taste them now!

Pasties - NOT amateur radio
A few weeks ago I tried my hand at making my own pasties. They turned out well. Just a pity I am on a diet and cannot have them at the moment.
As a Westcountryman, I like my pasties! The ones shown in the photo are vegetarian, but I also tried meat ones.

Proper food (pasties) - NOT amateur radio
Yesterday we went to Norwich with our son and grandson. We went by train. I was pleased to see real food (pasties) on sale in the station!

Quiet day - NOT amateur radio
Our Devon holiday continues. Often we hit bad weather, but so far we've been lucky with lots of sun. Today we are doing some washing, going into Kingsbridge for some shopping, and going around to my brothers for tea.
Tomorrow we plan another walk along the cliffs and eating out at the Sloop Inn in nearby Bantham. We have eaten here before, but when we called for a coffee one winter's morning on a walk with my brother we were turned away. At the time I could not believe how stupid they could be to turn away easy business ...and on the door it said they were open!! Of course, this was a few years ago and the owners have probably changed hands since then. I was very annoyed at the time, but it was their choice and their loss. All they had to do was give us coffee! Madness. We had a coffee and brandy a few miles further on.
I have been pleasantly surprised just how much I can still do despite my handicaps. As I said yesterday, I am learning to adjust to the "me" I am now. It is far from the end.

Pasties - NOT amateur radio
We bought some meat from Waitrose on a "3 for £10" deal, which was good
meat at very good prices. As there is some beef left over from the stew
at lunch yesterday, the plan is to make some homemade pasties for lunch. My wife will do the pastry and I'll do the rest. I love pasties!
The pasty is famous in Cornwall. At one time it was a favorite with tin miners with savories at one end and jam at the other - a complete meal in your hand. Some of the best pasties in the world are made by Ivor Dewdney in Plymouth.

Pasties
As a west countryman from Devon I love pasties. We occasionally make our own, but usually buy Ginsters which are not a bad pasty. For the VERY best pasty, you will be hard pressed to beat those made in the west of England by Ivor Dewdney. Fifty years ago I remember a trip shopping in Plymouth wasn't complete without eating one of these! They are still made the traditional way, by hand. Heck, I could eat one now.
