zBitx

Steve G1KQH has brought my attention to the zBitx from HF signals which is due in February. It has some very impressive features built in.

It looks remarkable value and far less expensive than the IC-705 and probably the FTX-1F.

Yaesu has a real battle on with their new FTX-1F.

MDT40 kit

Steve, G1KQH is building a kit from Australia - the MDT40. Because of family commitments, this is going slower than he'd like. The kit is 84 Australian dollars complete if buying outside Australia. It is a DSB rig for 40m available in 2 frequency ranges.

IC7300 video

This was received from Steve G1KQH yesterday. I think he expects me to buy one. With no FT817 replacement shown at Dayton, he may well be right, when the price drops and the bugs are ironed out, but I am in no hurry. It uses 15 band-pass filters in the front end. These stop overload in most, but not all, cases.
