Butterfly - NOT amateur radio

This photo was taken several months ago at nearby Anglesey Abbey and shows a butterfly on a dahlia. There are still butterflies around, but I expect  they will be a rare sight once we get a frost.

Gatekeeper butterfly - NOT amateur radio

Butterflies are in decline, so we have been asked to do a survey to work out how many there are.

Walk earlier - NOT amateur radio

As it was supposed to be hot today, we did an early walk. It is now cloudy! This butterfly obliged by sitting still as we took its photo. Most fly away just at the moment the shutter is about to close!  😞

Seen earlier this week - NOT amateur radio

The photo shows what we saw at Anglesey Abbey on Tuesday.  A butterfly and bee are on a thistle.

Anglesey Abbey is a National Trust property about 5 miles from us that recently re-opened its gardens.  You have to pre-book. The house remains closed. There is plenty of opportunity for social distancing as the grounds are very big.

Butterfly - NOT amateur radio

This butterfly was spotted earlier today at Anglesey Abbey. We saw quite a few. Anglesey Abbey is about 5 miles away by car. We visit most months.

Butterfly - NOT amateur radio

Whilst at Anglesey Abbey earlier, we saw this butterfly. I am not sure of the type. Perhaps someone else in the UK can help ID it? It was smaller than a cabbage white (about 60%).

UPDATE 2145z: Apparently it is a speckled wood, which is quite common.

Butterfly - NOT amateur radio

A picture of a brimstone (?) butterfly on the sweet peas. Taken a few weeks ago at Anglesey Abbey, a National Trust house a few miles to the east of Cambridge, UK.
