Early logbooks

On my main website are some of my early logbooks. These are available as PDF files. These copies were made years ago. I have no idea why only some are there. Perhaps I was unable to locate some at that time. This must have been 12 years ago or more.

Hi Roger -
Read through your earliest logbook but didn’t see my old G8+3 call G8BBP there. However, did see some callsigns of people I knew - G3XBY and G3SHY in particular. In fact, G3XBY (Dale) was my Manager when we both worked at Eddystone Radio.

Keith - I was at university with Dale and we took our CW tests at much the same time.

When I moved to Canada in 1976 my first VE3 license did not permit any HF voice privileges even though I had taken a Morse test. I had to serve a probationary 6 months showing HF CW contacts in my log, then I could have a “10 metre Endorsement “ which permitted voice on 28MHz.
My first 10m rig was a converted CB and for an antenna I clipped a piece of wire to the end of my 2m quarter-wave mobile whip and tied the other end to my car broadcast whip.
The first QSO with this lash-up was.....G3XBY!!
