Windmill - NOT amateur radio

As mentioned many times, we live next door to a fully restored windmill that is 200 years old.

Every single day someone comes to take a photo! This is not surprising.

This is the view from the lounge window.

I am looking forward to making some bread rolls this summer with flour milled here.

Windmill renovation - NOT amateur radio

They are repainting the windmill next door, so it is currently closed.

They have put a working model in the museum entrance.

Windmill - NOT amateur radio

Many time before, I have mentioned that we live next door to a windmill (see photo). Since this photo was taken all the sails and slats have been repainted and replaced and the whole mill re-tarred.

Sadly, starlings stop on the sails before flying off to their roost. They do make a mess! 😒

Windmill 2018 - NOT amateur radio

This photo was taken in 2018. It shows the windmill next door in July at 10.10pm. The evenings have already started to get darker.

Painting time - NOT amateur radio

Our windmill next door is 200 years old. It was fully restored in 2013.

At the moment, it is being repainted by volunteers.  I guess you have to have a head for heights!

If you look at the photo, you can see someone painting the sails.

Shadows - NOT amateur radio

Yesterday, the shadows cast by the windmill next door were spectacular as shown in the photo.  We get good views from the kitchen and lounge.

The windmill and sails are due for a repaint soon. Normally the 200 year old, fully restored, mill is open for visitors April-October.

New windmill path - NOT amateur radio

In the last few days they have been making a new path to the local windmill and museum, as the photo shows. This is designed to make access better in all weathers. We live next door.

As of yesterday, they had put hardcore down. I am not sure what goes on top.

"Our" windmill - NOT amateur radio

We live right next door to a fully restored 200 year old windmill. Every day, we notice somebody coming to take a photo.  You cannot blame them.

We can see the windmill when we have breakfast and from the lounge where this photo was taken.

During the Covid-19 pandemic they removed some slats from the sails. I expect they will be repainted and replaced soon. The whole windmill is due for a repaint.

Windmill view - NOT amateur radio

The restored windmill right next door is shown in the photo.

We can see the windmill from the breakfast table and, as in this view, from the lounge window.

Every day, just about, someone wants a picture of the windmill! This photo was taken yesterday morning.

Fog - NOT amateur radio

Until yesterday, we have had mist and fog most days this week. Yesterday it cleared and we had glorious sunshine. It was cold and crisp, but at least it was sunny. For once this winter, our windmill next door looked splendid.

Our view - NOT amateur radio

We are lucky to live next door to a fully restored 200 year old windmill. We can see it as we have breakfast and from our lounge.  Not many can say that!

Windmills - NOT amateur radio

We live next door to the only remaining windmill in our village. At one time there were four.

More accurately, some of these were windpumps, not windmills, as they were used to pump water and not grind corn. The photo shows two of these that have now gone.

Windmill sails in action - NOT amateur radio

For some reason, my G3XBM video channel has this video "unlisted". I shall change this. It shows the windmill next door with the sails turning.

For safety reasons both the local museum and windmill are currently closed.

Our view - NOT amateur radio

We are lucky having the view of a 200 year old restored windmill from several rooms in our house.

The photo shows the view from the lounge.

Stormy day - NOT amateur radio

The photo shows "our" windmill next door with a stormy sky. Thankfully, the last few days have been sunny. The marks at the bottom are filled cracks ahead of a repaint. The mill is 200 years old this year!

Lighter evenings - NOT amateur radio

The seasons are wonderful.

Mid-winter it is dark by 4pm.  At the moment it is light to about 6.30pm. In mid summer it is light until about 10.45pm.

This photo shows our windmill right next door shortly before dark.

"Our" windmill - NOT amateur radio

Well, it is not ours, although our elder granddaughter thinks the land around it is part of our garden. When we say, "play in our front garden" she makes a beeline to the windmill! Not many can overlook a lovely windmill whilst eating breakfast!

This is the windmill this morning in bright, winter, sunshine. Next year it is 200 years old. The hedge at the bottom of the photo is in our garden.

Windmill Sails - NOT amateur radio

We are lucky to live next door to a fully restored 200 year old windmill. Sails turn on special occasions only. The video shows the sails turning.
