Yet more Googledgook - NOT amateur radio

Yesterday, I got another email from Google that I could not understand. It was titled:

"Allow for contextual programmic demand when serving Ads"

.....hmmm.

Plain English? No, Googledgook.

Don't you just HATE this crappery? - NOT amateur radio

This just came in from Google. Why can't they just say they are changing instead of this stupid, stupid language?

" A reminder that we are sunsetting Universal Analytics"

Perhaps they will soon be saying they are dawning the replacement. 😊

Google Analytics - NOT amateur radio

For some weeks the map showing me where the audience for the blog comes from during the day has not been working. This particular map is only available to the blog owner.

In the past sudden increases in visitor numbers always tied up with increased interest from eastern Europe and Russia. These "blips" seemed to happen about once a month. I assumed these were probing bots rather than visits from people with a genuine interest. With the map not working I cannot tell where visits are coming from.

Already today my blog visits are way up. Already I have well exceeded the number of visits on a normal day. Now, these visits could be genuine, but they look exceedingly suspicious to me.

G3XBM webpages have moved

Today I switched my webspace from NTL to Google Sites. I've been having issues with FTP connection to the NTL webspace for weeks and the Virgin Media "help" has been anything but. I do so HATE having to press button 1 for this, 2 for that etc and in the end getting connected to someone who doesn't have a clue. No problem with the help centre being in India, but I would like to get help in the end. No joy.

So, I decided Google Sites would be a better bet. Google Sites is free, allows 100M of webspace and pages can be edited without HTML. There is also good feedback on site visit statistics using Google Analytics. The downside is the page formatting I can use is less complex, less fancy, but this is no big deal.

If you go to http://www.g3xbm.co.uk you will be directed to the right place.
