13 stations spotted me overnight. Quite a decent session for my 10mW ERP from the earth-electrode "antenna" in the ground.
Simple QRP projects, 10m, 8m, 6m, 4m, FT8, 160m, WSPR, LF/MF, sub-9kHz, nanowaves and other random stuff, some not related to amateur radio.
My 10mW ERP 630m WSPR (measured) was turned on at about 2020z. So far, just 2E0ILY/KIWI (209km) spotting me.
It is very disappointing to see I am the only UK station sending 630m WSPR according to WSPRnet at present.
My 10m WSPR beacon, without the PA, is on again. At 0846z, no spots.
This QRPP is really great fun and definitely worth trying in the upcoming Es season. I suspect FT8 would not work.
My 10m WSPR beacon is again on with 500uW (0.5mW). So far today, no spots. I am wondering if EA8BFK is no longer monitoring?
I shall definitely try 10m 500uW WSPR in the Es season.
This morning, I am trying 10mW ERP 10m WSPR for a change. The gear was turned on at about 0850z. No spots yet.
Might try 10mW 10m FT8 later.
UPDATE 1245z: No spots of me today, although I have spotted stations, even with the attenuator in the antenna coax on RX!
Until I had to QSY to 70cm FT8, I was on 630m WSPR with 10mW ERP. 2 stations spotted me. I shall QSY back to 630m QRP WSPR later.
Should I now move on? Another week maybe.
Already today, EA8BFK (2880km) has spotted my 500uW (0.5mW) 10m WSPR 24 times, even though A=12 and K=2. It is 1635z. According to my theory, I was not expecting spots today.
This afternoon, I was also spotted by a station in Russsia. I think it is at least 8 stations that have spotted my ultra-QRPP 10m WSPR.
The map shows the spots with 500uW (0.5mW) 10m WSPR over the last few days. Who needs high power? 😀 The map is from WSPR Rocks by Phil VK7JJ.
At present, I am monitoring 40.680MHz USB dial WSPR hoping to spot a station near Bedford or possibly some ON stations via tropo. No luck.
UPDATE 1906z: No spots.
UPDATE 1430z: Many spots by EA8BFK (2880km) and a station in Greece.
UPDATE 1904z: Amazing day! 6 stations have spotted my 500uW (0.5mW) 10m WSPR today. See map on WSPR Rocks by VK7JJ. When conditions are good this tiny power is enough.
As I was sleeping at my son's house, I was not on 630m WSPR overnight. This is the first time I have not been TXing on the band for several months.
I should be TXing on 630m WSPR tonight.
After thinking hard, I have decided to try 8m WSPR with ISM rules and not apply for a new permit.
Starting in a few weeks I shall be on 40.680MHz WSPR TX with 10mW ERP following IR2030 rules. The WSPR offset is about 1500Hz HF.
In the meantime, I am monitoring 40.680MHz USB dial WSPR and hope to spot some stations by tropo before the Es season really starts.
The following is the information I have .Please check if you are making a special trip. Sunday May 12th - Retrotech UK (BVWS), Coventry, CV...
