MF TX so far this season

So far this autumn on 472kHz (630m) WSPR I have been spotted by 20 unique stations in 4 countries (G, F, PA and DL). I am running 5mW ERP from my earth-electrode "antenna" in the ground. I think this is fewer than last year, although I started much later this year.  My impression is that there are fewer active stations, although I may be mistaken. It will be interesting to see the total by Easter. Best DX is DK6XY at 723km.

Hi Roger
Your transmission on 630m is right on top of a noise carrier on 475.744KHz which a bit of a mystery signal at present.

Your signal is about as strong as I have ever seen it. I use an active E-field
antenna which seems to work a lot better than earth electrodes for receiving, perhaps you might try the one you built ages ago. The real secret is to get it as far away from the house(s) as possible and use a choke on the feeder at the RX end. That allows me to sometimes hear transatlantic WSPR on MF and 160M with a 60cm vertical!

Best regards,
Alan
