Back on 472kHz WSPR

At about 1925z I QSYed from 10m down to 630m (472kHz) WSPR. I shall be on 472kHz WSPR for the evening and night with 5mW ERP from the earth-electrode "antenna" in the ground. I am on RX 80% of the time.

UPDATE 1940z:  I see that G0LRD (25km) spotted me strongly on 472kHz WSPR.

UPDATE  2200z:  It helps to have the "upload spots" box ticked!  I was wondering why WSPRnet had others spotting me but I was, apparently, not spotting anyone. Then the penny dropped. Doh.

Hi Roger,
For some time now I've been trying to figure out why I never seem to spot you on 630m, especially since we're only 25km apart, and my station is often the leading UK 630m WSPR station for receiving (according to the WSPR Challenge web site). A few days ago I realised what the problem was. Last year I modified my WSPR program to ignore you! This was because on 10m your WOLF tx transmits in every time slot, and I receive you strongly every time, providing no useful information and.making it hard to spot DX amongst the hundreds of spots of you. I took that modification out so now I spot you again.

Thanks David - all noted! I tend to use 10m in the day and usually 630m evenings and overnight. I am using the FT817 on 10m WSPR more these days as I can RX 80% of the time, which is fairer on others. I need my Par End fed for 10m, 20m and 40m so cannot use these bands at the same time even with 2 FT817s. I could use 500mW W5OLF 10m WSPR beacon and be on MF at the same time as the latter uses the earth-electrode "antenna". The W5OLF 10m WSPR beacon does not tie up a PC.

Roger, I have been thinking of using a multiband antenna with di/tri-plexers to use the same antenna with more than one radio.

I have read about people running contest stations on 10/15/20 with a tribander beam and a frequency splitting filter, and since we will be running low power, I would think that the requirements for the filters would not be too hard.

You could consider that for your Par End Fed antenna.
