Yesterday we had a sudden shock when my wife was rushed into Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge suffering from severe back pains and sickness. The day before she had been fit and well. She has been diagnosed with acute cholecystitis and is now on intravenous antibiotics and drips.
As Julian G4ILO has recently found, life has a nasty habit of suddenly throwing a spanner in the works, usually just when things are going very well. Hopefully she will make a full recovery although she has to have her gall bladder removed in the next 6-8 weeks.
....and I haven't a clue how to drive the washing machine :-)

Sorry to hear about your wife OM. Hopes she's on the mend soon.
Now, as for the washer, buck up! It's not as complicated as a radio. My wife is on holiday for a month and I'm doing all the washing, cooking, etc., so if I can do it, so can you! :)
Roger,
I'm sorry to hear about your wife. But thank goodness we live in an age when it can be treated. I sometimes think of what it must have been like for our ancestors who suffered horribly from maladies that are little more than a nuisance today.
Victoria and I send her our best wishes.
Mike, AA1TJ
At least you are near one of the best hospitals in the country. Wishing your xyl all the best for a speedy recovery.
Hi Roger, I hope your wife will recover soon. Good luck with doing essential house holding. ;-) 73 Paul
Thank you so much everyone for you kind wishes. Lis is recovering well and should be home next week.
As Michael says, we are very lucky to live in an age when modern medical intervention can relieve pain and suffering, and in many cases fix the problems.
Best wishes for your wife for a quick recovery, and to yourself. I suspect someone who can tinker together the projects you have can figure out the washing machine. :-)
Sorry to hear about your wife's illness, hoping she makes a full recovery soon.
David, G8JGO.
