Sunflowers dying

These have been a real surprise. The seeds came with some flowers my wife got for Mother's Day. I planted some in a tray and some in the ground. Most germinated and have looked good for several weeks, but they are now dying.

Some of the seeds will be kept for next year and the birds will have the rest.

Sunflowers

These are fun plants. I planted some seeds in the ground and a tray and about 7 are coming up and should soon be in flower.

UPDATE 1721z:   All these are now supported.

Sunflowers - NOT amateur radio

These are fun to grow.  A few days ago I put 12 seeds in a propagator. They germinated very fast and want potting on, before going outside. They can grow very tall. The birds love the seeds at the end.

Unusual sunflower - NOT amateur radio

Earlier, Muntjac deer nibbled our sunflowers. They have grown again, but only just flowered.

Among these is the unusual one shown in the photo, which was given by a friend.

Sunflowers - NOT amateur radio

Our own sunflowers were eaten by Muntjac deer which are common now. Our neighbour has some good ones and we see them better than she does!

The ones in the photo are in her garden.

Sunflowers out - NOT amateur radio

This morning I noticed that our sunflowers were out. In the accompanying photo you can hardly see them! "Our" windmill is in the background and the red berries on one of our rowan trees are visible on the left. The sunflowers are just visible (if you look hard!) towards the right.
