Ian Vance G3WMS

Back in the late 1960s I was at university with Ian. Under him, the Liverpool university radio club G3OUL thrived. He ended up with a 2:2 degree, but went on to head Nortel and get an MBE. He was a natural RF engineer and brilliant. I think he died a few years ago. It was a privilege to know him.

He was a mad keen radio amateur.

G3WMS SK

Yesterday I mentioned my happy days at Liverpool University and how one mad keen radio society member had done great things and gained an MBE. That amateur was Ian Vance, G3WMS (wild man of Somerset). Sadly today I found his obituary:  he died over a year ago. At one time he was the boss of STL. RIP Ian.
