Village cottage
Our village is a mixture of some old houses and new ones. This one is old, but I do not know when it was built.
I guess it is 200m from our home?

Innovative
This is an innovative use of an old tree stump. It is filled with flowers that look lovely at this time of year.

Tree trunk flowers
On the Causeway (a tree lined road in our village) they had to cut down a tree. I am so pleased they have made a feature of it by planting some flowers in the old tree trunk base.

Quiet close - NOT amateur radio
This is a quiet green in our village, surrounded by houses. We like to photograph this in the autumn when the trees lose their leaves.

Village sign -NOT amateur radio
This was our village sign yesterday.
It is located on a place called Pound Hill as it was once the location of the village pound where animals found wandering were locked up and released when the owner paid a fine!
It is also the tiny village green.

Village "centre" - NOT amateur radio
At least in this part of the UK, it has seemed a long, dull winter as this photo shows. Our village of Burwell has a couple of main centres for shops.
I expect this goes back a long time when there were really two villages.
Our local cafe is called the "Village Green" even though we don't really have one!

Local church - NOT amateur radio
This was our local church some summers ago. It will (all too) soon be spring. This winter has felt very long for some reason with lots of dull and dreary weather.

This is a view of the church tower in our village from an unusual angle. In places it is almost 1000 years old.

Village History - NOT amateur radio
Yesterday we walked to our village garden nursery to buy some plants.
Opposite was a plaque to an old Jewish cemetery. It is called "Jerusalem Gardens". I cannot imagine a Jewish community here centuries ago in the time of King Henry II.
UPDATE Nov 1st: I did not realise King Henry II was in the 1100s AD.

Expanding - NOT amateur radio
When we came to this village in 1975 the population was just over 4000. Now it is approaching 8000. Some prefer to expand their homes rather than move. It still has a village feel.
