Christmas present?

My XYL said this morning, "you'd do me a favour if you ordered yourself that new radio as I never know what to buy you for your birthday or Christmas". Well, I am happy to oblige!  Fancy being told to buy a new radio? Next stage is to see what is the best deal from the dealers.

Special birthday - NOT amateur radio

My wife is 29 days older than me. Last weekend was a special birthday (21 plus quite a few!) surrounded by cards and flowers.

Birthdays - NOT amateur radio

My wife is 70 today and I am 70 just before Christmas. It is hard to understand where the years have gone! Enjoy every precious moment. Inside, we both still feel young.

40 not out - NOT amateur radio

Remarkably our younger son is 40 today. It seems just a blink since I was that age!

We do not know what the future will bring us, but we wish him good health and happiness.

Just think  - in just 10 more years he can go on Saga holidays. Saga is a UK holiday company doing holidays for the over 50s. 😄

Birthday - NOT amateur radio

A few days ago, one of our grandchildren was 4. Here she is with her dad and her brother opening her present from us in our back garden this afternoon.

Birthday card co-incidences

Today I celebrate my 64th birthday, although it is only 5 minutes since I was 18, so be warned: time passes very quickly and speeds up as you get older!
One strange thing today was some of the birthday cards. When in Oxford a few weeks ago my XYL bought me a card for my birthday, from the OXFAM shop, with the title, "Instructions are for wimps" showing a man operating 1920s radio gear - very apt for a radio amateur. Well, blow me down, I got the same card from 3 people! If you want one to send to your friends, they have plain insides so can be used for an occasion, they come from  www.cathtatecards.com.

Now, to my mind, the operator looks a bit like Julian G4ILO. Perhaps it was his grandfather!

Birthdays

It was my elder grandson's 2nd birthday last week. We went to Paris to enjoy it with his French grandparents and had a good time. This is a picture of both grandchildren when they came to stay a few weeks ago. It is my wife's birthday next week, so I'd better get thinking. Mine, just before Christmas, is easy as I tell my XYL what I want - usually some radio books.
