Later this week BBC Long Wave on 198kHz goes QRT for the last time.
We went by the Droitwich TX yesterday on the train. Sad, but inevitable I guess.
What will happen to the spectrum?
Simple QRP projects, 10m, 8m, 6m, 4m, FT8, 160m, WSPR, LF/MF, sub-9kHz, nanowaves and other random stuff, some not related to amateur radio.

You may recall I bought a much modified HW8 some weeks ago. If I could find my CW key I might use it on TX! This video is years old. In it...

The spectrum will just go quiet. MW has just a couple of national stations. I will really miss Radio 4 on Long Wave. It's on in the car all the time; it provides far better service than I ever have from Band II FM. No flutter.
i hope ofcom will allow both LW and MW use for hobbyist America has part 15 rules for both LW and MW why cant ofcom do the same given the bands are no good for anything else
i live only a few miles away and both FM and DAB are really bad signals here and my internet is sub 5mpbs most of the time so a smart speaker or bbc sounds is out of the question i am now using an old 12v freeview tv box and a small 5inch backup camera screen as a audio source feeding a cheap mp3 player fm transmitter so i can at least still get radio4 as there was serton things i used to like listening to
I also wish OFCOM would open the spectrum up like part 15 but I am not holding my breath. Judging by past performance, I can’t see them doing anything unless it brings in money!
