Apparently listener numbers have been falling for some years.
Also, much of the TX transmitters are beyond the point that they can be maintained.
It has been a long time since I last listened to Radio 4 longwave.
Simple QRP projects, 10m, 8m, 6m, 4m, FT8, 160m, WSPR, LF/MF, sub-9kHz, nanowaves and other random stuff, some not related to amateur radio.
For a change, I am on 2m FT8 with 5W to the big-wheel omni antenna. UPDATE 1537z: So far, spotted by 10 English stations. Furthest is G7R...

I listened to R4 exclusively on LW in my car. For speech, I felt that the narrower bandwidth was actually easier on the ear than M. The coverage on Band II is certainly insufficient in N Wales for noise free listening in car. Band III is worse. I shall miss the LW service
