The big-wheel is a horizontally polarised antenna with some gain. It is an array of half-waves, suitably matched.
It is ideal for this and regularly gets a long way even with my QRP.
Simple QRP projects, 10m, 8m, 6m, 4m, FT8, 160m, WSPR, LF/MF, sub-9kHz, nanowaves and other random stuff, some not related to amateur radio.
We go for walks in nearby Anglesey Abbey most months. This is a photo of the main house. The property is owned by the National Trust.
