Yaesu has released some firmware updates to the FTX-1F. In my view it is FAR too expensive and under-featured.

Simple QRP projects, 10m, 8m, 6m, 4m, FT8, 160m, WSPR, LF/MF, sub-9kHz, nanowaves and other random stuff, some not related to amateur radio.
We live about 15km from airbases used by the USAF. In the last couple of days these appears to be an increase in air traffic.

It depends on your perspective. The price for the Field Edition, the head alone, is a little high--though somewhat competitive with the IC-705. However, the rather small extra to add on the 100-watt Optima body with an auto tuner seems a good value to me. At any rate, I believe I'm getting one. I will--as always with Yaesu--wait for a few months for Yaesu to get the bugs squashed and the problems sorted out. de W4NNF
