Yaesu has released some firmware updates to the FTX-1F. In my view it is FAR too expensive and under-featured.

It depends on your perspective. The price for the Field Edition, the head alone, is a little high--though somewhat competitive with the IC-705. However, the rather small extra to add on the 100-watt Optima body with an auto tuner seems a good value to me. At any rate, I believe I'm getting one. I will--as always with Yaesu--wait for a few months for Yaesu to get the bugs squashed and the problems sorted out. de W4NNF
