For nearly 40 years I travelled about 10 miles into Cambridge for work.
In all that time I never saw a magpie.
Now they’re very common. I believe they raid birds nests to eat chicks or eggs.
Simple QRP projects, 10m, 8m, 6m, 4m, FT8, 160m, WSPR, LF/MF, sub-9kHz, nanowaves and other random stuff, some not related to amateur radio.

These days, worldwide communication is easy using the internet. The advantages are families and friends can keep in touch wherever they are....
