2m/70cm handhelds

Beofeng handhelds seem to be very popular and inexpensive, although the quality control seems poor: some are fine, whereas others seem "flaky".

Although hardly ever used, I have Yaesu ( not Trio!! Thank you Keith) VX1 and VX2 dual band handhelds. These we considerably more expensive, but are very small and reliable. Many have found longer antennas are useful. I guess it depends what they are used for.

I thought the VX1 and VX2 were Yaesu radios? Were they also sold under the Trio name?

Hi Roger,

Not sure if you got confused when typing and was looking at a TRIO radio at the time but your handhelds are made by Yaesu. May also want to update the link to website!

Keith - you are quite correct!! My mistake.

No problem! I think that back in the 70’s there were some radios that were sold under two different names (certainly Sommerkamp and Yaesu) for a short while, so it might have been possible. Hey, you could have had rare “Collectors’ Editions”!!
