2m FT8 RX overnight

Overnight (mostly last evening) 85 stations in 9 countries spotted on 2m FT8 RX with the FT817ND and big-wheel omni antenna. This is pretty typical.
2m FT8 RX here - mostly last evening

I buy considerably less on the High Street now and it has nothing to do with the Internet. Some things, such as ham radio gear, you have to buy on the web but otherwise I’m just buying less stuff. The reason is that I refuse to walk around town with my pockets stuffed full of plastic bags. Some retailers offer the courtesy of a free paper bag which is very gratefully received, others lecture you about carbon emissions and just push your purchases across the counter for you to somehow gather up. Some retailers can’t even be bothered to serve you these days instead directing you to their self service tills. The attitude seems to be it’s our way or nothing, what happened to the theory of the customer always being right?

Magazines are a good example of my spending cutback. I used to love magazines buying six or seven a month. I looked forward to getting the new issues, often buying two or three at a time. Now I buy one, sometimes! The joy has gone out of the purchase since the fines were introduced for not having a bag. Probably good for carbon emissions, very good for my pocket- I must be saving at least £35 a month but not so good for the magazine publishers or the High Street!

Sorry Roger,
Clicked the wrong comment!
The above comment should have been on the High Street shops entry.
