I don't know if you have noticed but there seem to be almost no rallies in the south east of England anymore (where I live). Kempton Park cancelled, Eastbourne cancelled, No more Woburn Abbey rallies. I used to go regularly, but I havn't been to one for years. I don't like driving for hours anymore to get to the further away ones. I used to load up the rig and magmount and go /M for directions, but SatNav has changed all that.
The demise of my local Maplins too, means no more shopping for those useful 'clearance bargains' that I have later turned into useful projects.
Even my local radio club closed many years ago and I don't ragchew on topband anymore, partly because of my consistant S9+ noise levels. 2 metres seems to have no repeaters now and I don't hear anyone simplex anymore. WSPR now being my only mode of operation now.
I tried FT8 but it is not the same, making contacts and finding out things about the other operator used to be part of the fun.
Enough reminising. Times are changing.
