Rethink over climate deal? - NOT amateur radio

Is Donald having second thoughts over climate change? I certainly hope so. On this the USA is at odds with the entire world and that can't be good for one's ego. He sounds and behaves stupidly in the eyes of the rest of the world. Come on Donald! You'll look better (more presidential) if you come into line.

Roger,

you are referring to the Paris accord document. Do yourself a favour and browse through it.

1.) The US currently has much stronger environmental regulations, especially on vehicle exhaust emissions than most countries in Europe. Not ratifying the Paris accord (neither did the Netherlands btw) does not necessarily mandate a reversal in environmental protection policies.

2.) The Paris accord (read it!) does not contain a single enforceable emission limitation, it is more of a "letter of good intent".

3.) It is perfectly agreed upon that keeping 7 billion humans on the earth that happily burn massive amounts of fossile fuels will certainly leave its marks. What fails to impress me though is how several thousand politicians and their entourages traveling to Paris by plane (do not think they would go by bike to reduce emissions) and signing a high level agreement without any tangible content will make a single truck in China pollute less or a single plane in Europe not take off or a single family take up family planning.

So, I salute the US for calling BS on this. I am not certain that the ship of global warming can be turned around. What I am sure of however is that the Earth will survive humanity.

Bob - thanks for your input. Although the Paris climate agreement is FAR from perfect, I think the USA does itself no favours by not signing up to it. Somehow I think the current US president is more concerned by the fossil fuel lobby in the USA than a real interest in the consequences of climate change. If I am wrong, then I apologize to your billionaire president.
