More on the IC7300

There is a little more on this new ICOM radio on the MLS website. Deliveries are expected "in early 2016" with a UK (initial?) price of "under £1000". I shall wait.

Hello Roger.
I am also due a new radio. The last purchase must have been the best part of twenty years ago, by way of an Icom IC706 MK 2 and auto ATU. Both still work as good as the day I bought them.
I have done some research and quite honestly I am not attracted to either the IC 7300 or the FT991. Far too many 'gimmicks' for my taste and far too many problems reported in relation to the 991. I will, in all probability, stick with the tried and tested, with very useful features, by way of the Kenwood TS 590SG.
The Icom and the Yaesu both look very nice but for my taste and requirements the Kenwood looks the winner.
Kind regards and best wishes for 2016 Roger.
John - GW3OIN.

Each to their own John. I quite like the SDR architecture and inclusion of 4m in the IC7300.

I have a President Lincoln Mk2 (10m all mode) which is mint and rarely used since I bought it a year ago. This might be traded in when I eventually buy a new rig. It works well, but I have used my FT817s for WSPR almost exclusively.
