Grand Arcade, Cambridge - NOT amateur radio
The Grand Arcade in Cambridge is a covered indoor mall, near the centre of town. It has some big named stores as well as a Raspberry Pi shop for geeks! It is gearing up for Christmas.

Lucky? - NOT amateur radio
Every Tuesday we go to see a free concert at Cambridge University. Today it was the Kingsmen who were male singers from King's College Choir. It was note perfect and sublime. It is very easy to take Cambridge for granted.

Medieval stained glass - NOT amateur radio
This stained glass is in King's College Chapel in Cambridge and dates from the 1500s.
As locals, we can get in to the chapel free.
The chapel is darker than normal as there is scaffolding and tarpaulins outside.

Fan vaulting - NOT amateur radio
Being local, we can go into King's College Chapel in Cambridge for free whenever we want.
People travel across the planet to see it. The fan vaulting is the best example in Europe I believe.
Look Down! - NOT amateur radio
We have been walking through the Grand Arcade in Cambridge for years. Only recently had we noticed that the floor tiles have lots of fossils in them. I expect many thousands besides me have just walked on and never noticed.

At the moment, a lot King's College, Cambridge is covered in scaffolding. Imagine coming half way around the world to see the famous King's College Chapel looks a right mess outside! The photo shows the entrance to King's College.

Hedging bets? - NOT amateur radio
At the moment, all retailers are having a hard time with the growth and convenience of online shopping. John Lewis in Cambridge seems to be hedging its bets by having a Halloween and Christmas display within metres!

Cambridge by bus - NOT amateur radio
One of the benefits of being old is you get a free bus pass. It is now quicker to get into Cambridge by bus than driving and taking the "park and ride" bus.
Also, one of the John Lewis rewards this month is 2 free hot drinks.
So later were are off to Cambridge by bus (free) and 2 cups of coffee (free) . And the weather looks good.

Shopping - NOT amateur radio
Most weeks we go about 12 miles on the bus into Cambridge. As we are old (!) we have free bus pass, so the journey is totally free. It is also as fast as taking our car. It is a pleasurable ride too.
Like most men, I hate clothes shopping. Instead I had a coffee whilst my wife did the spending!

This was the fruit on sale in Cambridge earlier. M&S is a nice shop, if a bit expensive for some things.

Behind King's College Cambridge - NOT amateur radio
Behind King's Cambridge |
The field behind King's College has been cut in half so one part is cut and the other left as a wild flower meadow. At the moment it is ablaze with cowslips. Not visible in the photo (just in front of the cows) is the River Cam beloved by punters.

Cambridge church cafe - NOT amateur radio
A number of churches now have cafes. I guess they raise funds for the church as well as providing a useful function for visitors and locals. In Cambridge, one such is Michelhouse in Trinity Street. When we popped in this morning it was busy.

The Backs yesterday - NOT amateur radio
The Backs are what the backs of the Cambridge colleges are known as. They back onto the R.Cam, famous for punting! The photo shows the approach to King's College yesterday. I don't think I have posted it before. The photo has appeared in many places already, so if this is twice, please accept my apologies.
My wife took the photo and put it on 365project, which she has done every day for over 10 years now. This is totally free and is a good visual "Pepys diary" of life.
