People have different ways of remembering . When I am awake at night one strategy I use is to travel from A to B using the map in my head. I am surprised how many places are in my head!! For example places where I have lived or worked.

Amazing free map resource - NOT amateur radio
If you are in the UK, this is an amazing free resource from the Library of Scotland. Almost every historical map for anywhere in the UK is available on screen. It is truly awesome.

Expanding - NOT amateur radio
We moved to our village in 1975 when there were about 4000 people. Nowadays there are over 6000, many of whom work in Cambridge. Our local village museum has some very old maps showing how the village has developed, particularly in the last 200 years.
