40s day at local museum - NOT amateur radio
Today, our local museum had a "40s day". Many people dressed up in 40s clothes for the occasion. It was really well attended with lots of stalls, music and dancing.

Local museum - NOT amateur radio
We are very lucky to live right next door to a windmill and local museum. These are open Thursdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays from Easter until the end of October.
See https://burwellmuseum.org.uk/ .
Recently, the vehicle shed has been redone. There are plenty of old vehicles in here!
The photo shows me volunteering at the museum cafe yesterday.

Burwell Museum talk - NOT amateur radio
A reminder for those in the area that our local Burwell Museum has a "Tea and
Talks" talk tomorrow (Thursday, Oct 3rd) at 2pm on the "History of
Newmarket" by Sandra Easom. As usual, this is followed by free tea and
biscuits. Normal museum charges apply.
Of course, you can look around the very extensive museum and windmill too! I can honestly say this is one of the best local museums in the whole UK. Many do not realise quite how extensive it is.

Museum duty - NOT amateur radio
Several times a year my wife and I volunteer to help at our excellent local museum. Usually we help in the tearoom or entry kiosk. There is free Wi-Fi so no-one can be bored. In both the kiosk and the tearoom there are items for sale. The photo shows some of these.

Talk - NOT amateur radio
We are fortunate to live right next door to a 200 year old windmill and local museum, which is one of the best in the UK.
Every spring and autumn they hold talks of local interest. The photo shows the presenter in free flow. It was a good, interesting and well attended talk.

What are they up to? - NOT amateur radio
We live next door to Burwell Museum and windmill. The photo shows 2 volunteers peering down the well. You may well ask why.
Well, they are hauling up the tray at the bottom of the well which catches money thrown into the well over the season, which runs from Easter until late October when the museum is open.

Local talk - NOT amateur radio
Our local village museum has talks for an hour followed by free tea and biscuits. Today's talk was by a person in charge of the Cambridge University Zoology Museum in Cambridge. It was mainly about finds locally which included bears, wolves and beavers, all long gone from these parts.
The talk was very well attended.

Local museum and windmill - NOT amateur radio
About once a month, my wife and I volunteer across the road at our local museum. We live directly opposite.
It is open Easter-October on Thursdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays 11am-5pm. It really is splendid. It is open at other times for special visits e.g. school trips and visiting groups.
We normally help in the tearoom or kiosk. In the kiosk a wide variety of gifts such as these books are stocked.

Local museum - NOT amateur radio
Our local Burwell museum (one of the best in the UK) can be chosen as the charity, so it gets some money when one purchases Co-op goods with a Co-op card here in the UK. You get money back for yourself as well as benefitting a local charity of your choice. The Co-op has some keen prices too.

Burwell Museum and Windmill - NOT amateur radio
Our local windmill and museum (right next door!) is one of the very best local museums in the whole of the UK. It is open 11am-5pm every Thursday, Sunday and Bank Holiday from Easter until late October. It is huge and is spread over many buildings. It goes on and on! When my grandchildren can't go they cry. For a few hours out, it is well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Museum changes - NOT amateur radio
As many of you know, we live right next door to Burwell Museum and its restored windmill. Today they are erecting a new entrance kiosk. There is a lorry unloading and people working on it right now. The museum is amazing and houses so much in its various parts and is well worth a visit. It is probably one of the best, if not the best local museum in the whole of the UK.

May I suggest ALL locals visit in 2017? It is probably the biggest and best local museum, certainly in the area and probably in the whole of the UK. A real gem with so much to see and do. When they can't go, our little grandchildren cry!
