8m QRP FT8 (Thursday)

At 1325z, my 8m QRP FT8 was turned on. No spots yet.

UPDATE 1505z:  Still no spots.

UPDATE 1540z:  ZS6OB (9099km) spotted strongly on 8m FT8, but no spots of me sadly.

UPDATE 1649z:  No spots of me and no further spots on RX.

  1. Are you using 40.068 using G3XBM under the terms of your non-amateur license then Roger?

  2. 40.680 MHz FT8 with Maidenhead locator and using my amateur call even though use of callsigns is not mandated and this is NOT the Amateur Radio Service. I could have used the callsign "Find Wally"!!!

  3. Personally, I hope that as many people as possible exploit the ISM legislation in their countries. In the UK I believe that ANYONE may use the 8m ISM allocation for beacons at 10mW ERP as long as the technical requirements and IR2030 are met and without a licence. Pretty sure WSPR beacons could be copied a long way at times with this power. In Australia a 5mW WSPR beacon has been spotted 5000km away!!
