8m NoV - nothing heard

A month ago I submitted my application to OFCOM (RSGB copied) for an 8m NoV.  Nothing yet heard, although I expect even to get a polite rejection could take months. It would be nice to hear if the RSGB is supportive. After all, I am only doing this to advance radio propagation science.

At the end of the day I am after 50Hz of spectrum for a limited time with low power. They have allocated 2000000Hz of VHF spectrum for DATV NoVs!!!  The 146-147MHz NoVs have been extended for another year.

  1. Hi Roger,
Shame no reply from Ofcom for you. I had many frustrating years as a design engineer dealing with them as I used to have to apply for special permission to test emergency positioning indicating radio beacons (EPIRB) in the VHF aeronautical band during development but they pulled in comments from outside sources without explaining what I was trying to do, and everyone said no, probably because they could not be bothered without finding out.
I have now a magloop set up on 40Mhz, my Ft897 covers 40mhz and I have a U3S qrp tx on 40mhz into a dummy load to see the system working.
Shame too that WSPRnet does not support 8m band, but some USA stations are going for this band so maybe there will be an update.
