The EU and vaccines for Covid-19 - NOT amateur radio

There seems little doubt that the EU was very slow ordering vaccines. For example, they ordered AstraZeneca vaccines 3 months after the UK and have only now approved its use!  It seems the EU bureaucracy really slowed down the roll-out in Europe.

This is one reason why so many voted to leave the EU in the UK. In my view, this was a "shot in the foot". The UK government is far from perfect, but on vaccines they got it right.

  1. That sounded reasonable, but:
UK approved the AZ on Dec 30. However, AZ only APPLIED for EU approval TWO WEEKS AFTER the UK approval was a fact Jan 12). Why ?...
Having said that, I think that the EMA (EU) was too slow in the approval process, anyway, since the data was already there. But the EU can not be blamed for the whole delay. Why did AZ not apply for approval in the EU when they did for the UK?
We are going to hear more about this when more information is released, but the thing is, and that is the other important fact: No one is safe before the whole world is safe.

  2. Hi Jan - I have no idea why AZ applied for EU approval so late. Like you, I would have expected this at the same time. Agreed, until was all are safe we will face restrictions.
