My FT8 at 6W from the IC-705 was turned on just before midday. Judging by the absence of signals on RX, it looks like there is a solar storm.
UPDATE 1130z: Just one English station south of Birmingham spotting me and nobody spotted on RX.

It’s the RSGB FT-4 contest today (and tomorrow), and judging by the absence of signals on any band higher than 20m I would agree with your diagnosis of a solar storm!
