Last night, in the 23cm activity contest, I heard and worked nothing! I am hoping for some local skeds to prove all is well.
At the moment I only have the 2el test antenna pointing out of the shack window. My shack is on a "hill" (which is a relative term in East Anglia!) and 2W.
Hello Roger,
ReplyDeleteWith the supplied antenna you will be very lucky to RX anything with it indoors. If you could get the supplied antenna or something else outside in the clear then you should.
I have the same TVTR and it is very good. Sadly I am not QRV these days on the high bands to much QRM, yes even on 23!
You may like to try and listen for GB3MHZ on 1296.830MHz @ Martlesham, near Ipswich.
Good Luck, 23cm's is and outstanding band when it opens up.

Hi Roger.
ReplyDeleteI was on 23cms Tuesday evening calling to the East for much of the time but conditions very poor. Unfortunately I erect my antennas for each contest so the beam is down now. I also use an SGLabs transverter. You may be able to copy the TV repeater GB3PV on 1316 MHz from Madingly but it is digital so you may just hear wideband noise. Will look out for you on the next 23cms. 73 Dave G4FEV.
Ps. agree with the previous poster, the supplied antenna only suitable for very local testing. The third harmonic of 432.1 may be heard on 1296.3.
Thanks both. I am looking for very local stations e.g. G4BAO who is about 8km near line of sight across the fens. Think John must be away. I am on a good high spot, but am only expecting locals with that antenna pointing out of the shack window,HI. Will buy a better antenna for /P after I know all is well. 73s Roger G3XBM
