BeoFeng Dual Band Transceiver for £18.99 (or lower) with free postage!

See http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BaoFeng-UV-5R-136-174-400-520-MHz-Dual-Band-DCS-DTMF-CTCSS-FM-Two-Way-Radio-/252233483100?hash=item3aba49835c:g:6RAAAOSwL7VWhdxu

Some of the prices for new amateur radio gear is just incredible. At these prices how can anyone make a profit? This is shipped from the UK too.

UPDATE 1235z:  OK, I give up! I have just seen it available even cheaper (£15.75) on eBay!! See http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BAOFENG-UV-5R-Dual-Band-UHF-VHF-Two-Way-Ham-FM-Radio-Speaker-Mic-Walkie-Talkie-/262371437743?hash=item3d168e6caf:g:JXkAAOSwJQdW-zkK
No doubt Steve G1KQH will find the lowest price ones! Once he reads this he will be "on the case".

UPDATE 1246z: Or maybe a smart watch with Bluetooth for just over £7? See http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bluetooth-Smart-Wrist-Watch-Phone-Mate-For-Android-IOS-iPhone-Samsung-HTC-UK-/172150503333?var=&hash=item2814f837a5:m:mIJ9EQ_TPg5B29hjQ8cDS_Q

  1. I am keeping out of this one!

The last cheap Baofeng I found on ebay just before the New year I and others had to use the ebay tools to recover our money back, as the Chinese supplier did a runner!

Maybe he was just after a good Chinese New year?

I think the market now must be saturated with HT's, surely we have enough! But, what a great time to be part of it all if you have just got your licence. I wish it was the same when I came into the hobby over 30 years ago, then a basic single band handheld transceiver was about £200, there was no programming with a computer or anything really free with it, a drop in charger was optional. You get the lot nowadays along with 70cm, the software to blow it thrown in, and a spkr mic for around a fiver..

    What more do you want?

  2. The Bluetooth Watch caught my interest and I blew £8.50 on one. Well it does what it says on the tin, if you decode the Chinglish. The Google Playstore has old versions of the BT connect software but the link in the user guide seemed to work, though I had to drop the security on my phone to load it. So I can monitor my camera remotely, but the image is too small to see. Oh and I had to scan. The user guide into my iPad as the original was too small for my eyesight! The audio quality is poor so won't be using that feature. But for 8.50 it is a watch and a bit of fun. Just needs someone bright enough to interface it to WSPR on a Raspberry Pi and it could be useful.
