This was flagged by Facebook today as a memory I first posted there in 2011. I have no idea where I first found this. If, like me, you grew up with these then I very much hope you enjoy a little trip down memory lane. Memories of simple shortwave receivers and broadcast DXing. Simple pleasures long before the internet.
Was hoping to hear Radio Brazzaville the voice of French Equatorial Africa. When I first picked up that station on my Hallicrafters S38 in 1956, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Imagine, a kid in northern New York state listening to Africa in his bedroom during mid-winter. My favorite SW radio memories, not matched since then.

Nice to hear all those old tunes. It often resembles old film music. My first receiver was a Koyo radio. My first DX was Radio South Africa (RSA) and I was very happy when I first heard it. The pause tune was a local bird. And which is also in here. Nice to hear again. 73 Paul PC4T
ReplyDeleteThe one I recall the best was the one from Radio Moscow ("Moscow Nights") . It came, even as RF breakthrough on the tape recorder ;)
