FT818 - a "what if" radio that does not exist....

The FT818 handheld:
  • All mode, all bands 1.8-1296MHz with 5MHz and 70MHz
  • 5W RF (2W 1296MHz)
  • 3.5AHr Li-Ion battery pack (2hr charging)
  • Built in random wire and whip auto-ATU
  • Full colour OLED display
  • Multi-function DSP noise reduction
  • RF Speech processor
.....wouldn't that be nice for Christmas 2010? Sadly, it doesn't exist except in our dreams.

  8. Yes, I have to confess this is the rig I "hope" Yaesu will announce soon, but it does not yet exist. Photoshop can be great fun for inventing rigs :-)

  9. Have you send it to Yaesu already ;-)
    Your wish is their command.
I used to dream about multimode radios when I only had a 22 channel CB radio and as student of course didn't have the money for it. Unfortenately the money issue did never change :-(

  14. the ft 817 had a design flaw in product detector on ssb/cw producing to my ears, sub standard audio (distortion) in these modes.
    some people dont notice it.
Wonder if this one has been improved on rx audio?
